Tradewind Yachting Services’ Jomar Balcombe, Vernal Walters, and Chuck Steely have just returned from the Yamaha Marine University in Kennesaw, Georgia, brimming with new certifications.
Jomar returned with six certificates including Drive Train, In-line Engine Systems, V-Engine Systems, ECM Programming, and YDIS, Yamaha’s diagnostics software; Vernal completed the V-Engine Systems course and together with Chuck, the XTO Offshore course for the new Yamaha XTO Offshore engine. This 425hp V8 powerhouse is the first four-stroke powerhead in the outboard industry to feature direct injection, and features electronic steering. It should be in stock in 2020.
Chuck is a Yamaha Outboard Master Technician, having passed the final course last year. Master Technician is the absolute highest certification a Yamaha technician can attain, and an elite few achieve this designation. Chuck, a 30-year Yamaha technician, is now one of only two Master Technicians in the Caribbean.
